Wind Bands
A musical proving ground for wind and percussion musicians
The Music Department at ACHS offers two levels of wind bands for its students: Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble Honors. Both ensembles rehearse during the school day and incorporate wind and percussion instruments. While many people assume that Marching Band is the most important part of the Music Department, we believe that wind bands are where wind and percussion instrumentalists receive the most valuable training in the development at musicians.
Wind Ensemble Honors
Wind Ensemble Honors earns credit on the 5.0 scale and is one of only two Honors credit Wind Ensemble programs in the County. Admission to Wind Ensemble is by audition only and lessons are highly encouraged. Students are assessed on 12 scales per semester based on the scale syllabus provided. Performers in the ensemble will be performing grade 3.5 and beyond music, or advanced high school into collegiate level wind literature. Admission to the Wind Ensemble is based on your audition as well as instrumentation needs. Students in Wind Ensemble Honors are highly encouraged to participate in a Solo & Ensemble Festival. Concert Band
