Senior Spotlight: John Villapando

John will be attending UC Irvine to study Mechanical Engineering. While only a one-year member of the Vocal Ensemble, he brought a lot of talent. His favorite piece was "The Lake," which is based on an Edgar Allan Poe poem.

Instruments: Voice

Plan for the future: I will be attending the attending University of California, Irvine and majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

Travel aspirations: My ideal location would be England.

Proudest accomplishment: Getting accepted to both UC Davis and UC Irvine.

Favorite Memory: All of the boys in vocal ensemble singing the Halo Theme Song while T-posing in a circle in the guy's dressing room before performing in the Winter Concert.

Favorite musical piece/tune from high school: “The Lake” by Jay Althouse

Most underappreciated thing about high school: Being in school held me

accountable to do my school work.

Quarantine activities: Playing video games, chatting with my friends, and working out.

What I've been watching in quarantine: “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” on Hulu

What part of the ACHS Music Program has had the most impact on you and why? The part that had the most impact on me was meeting people that are so talented in singing and being able to hear all of them singing all at once.

What would you say to your freshman self about the Music program if you could? I would have encouraged my younger self to try and be in Vocal Ensemble for multiple years rather than only just senior year.
