Senior Spotlight: Enrique Cazares

Enrique was a rook-out in Vocal Ensemble, walking in the first week of class & asking Mr. Cook, "I was hoping to be your TA." "Ha. No. But you'll sing bass!" Cook replied. The rest is history.

Instruments: Voice

Plan for the future: I will continue my education at Ventura College majoring in Criminal Justice.

Travel aspirations: Japan, I adore the cherry blossoms and the culture.

Proudest accomplishment: Sticking with wrestling all four years

Favorite Memory: Bonding with friends out of school.

Favorite musical piece/tune from high school: “The Lake”

Most underappreciated thing about high school: People in general, human contact hits differently after not having it for more than two months.

Quarantine activities: Trying to keep in touch with friends and preparing for the next steps in life after high school.

What I've been watching in quarantine: I re-watched avatar “The Last Airbender” in about a week, watched all of “Star Wars,” including the side series, in chronological order minus 7-9 (those were horrible, fight me!) and every Marvel movie in chronological order as well.

What part of the ACHS Music Program has had the most impact on you and why? Mr. Cook. Without him, my cousin wouldn’t be pursuing his dream as much as he is, and I don’t get to nap when I'm at my cousin’s house because he’s always practicing when I get tired.

What would you say to your freshman self about the Music program if you could? It's like a food you've never had: It doesn’t hurt to try unless you're genuinely allergic.
