Senior Spotlight: Catherine Ibrahim

Cathy has quietly been the funniest member of Jazz I, despite Collin Meyring stealing her jokes and just repeating them in an outside voice. She will be majoring in neuroscience at any one of the many UC's she was accepted to because she is an asset both in and out of the Music Dept.
Instruments: Trumpet & French Horn
Plan for the future: I’m pretty sure I’ll be attending UC Riverside and studying neuroscience.
Travel aspirations: Barcelona, Spain
Proudest accomplishment: Surviving AP Chemistry
Favorite Memory: My senior year Disneyland trip when I walked into a pole and Mr. Cook laughed at me.
Favorite musical piece/tune from high school: “First Suite in E-flat”
Most underappreciated thing about high school: Being with people :( (other than family)
Quarantine activities: Staying up until 3 a.m. playing Roblox with Adrian, also crocheting with Adrian, doing homework with Adrian, napping and coloring with Adrian, watching "You" (it's very unsettling and I don’t know if I'm gonna watch Season 2), playing Club Penguin ... with Adrian, hanging out with my sister, practicing piano and ukulele (sometimes with Adrian), filling out this survey ... with Adrian ... so yeah! productive!
What I've been watching in quarantine: “You"
What part of the ACHS Music program has had the most impact on you and why? The Marching Band has really made me see what true hard work and responsibility is like. It is also how I met my best friends, and it is where I found my own confidence. Plus, I had a trumpet duet. Pretty cool. Just saying.
What would you say to your freshman self about the Music program if you could? I know that you're afraid of Marching Band because it's "physical activity" or whatever but don't worry. It's fun and it's going to be your second home. Additionally, I understand you're feeling insecure because everyone else seems like they have it together, but don't give up. You might become section leader one day ;). Also, you're gonna meet a boy named Adrian. Don't talk to him. Save yourself.
