Introducing our newest Music Director, Mr. Phil Idell
Dear Camarillo Music Families,
We are thrilled to announce that Mr. Phil Idell is returning to Camarillo High School in a new role as its second Music Director beginning this year! Mr. Idell holds a Music Education degree from the Herb Alpert School of Music at UCLA and has 11 years of experience teaching the country’s most elite high schools, drum corps, and WGI groups including five years at ACHS.
Mr. Idell will continue to lead the percussion program and design and arrange marching band and winter percussion shows in addition to his new duties, which include spearheading the Digital Music Production Pathway, providing high-quality concert and small group percussion instruction during the school day, and co-directing the marching band with Mr. Guerrero. Mr. Guerrero will take on director responsibilities for all concert and jazz ensembles, in addition to Vocal Ensemble.
In taking on a credentialed position at ACHS, Mr. Idell lends Camarillo Music his broad depth of experience in audio engineering, design, and production in addition to his knowledge as a musician, educator, and composer/arranger. Mr. Idell is eager to serve the students and families of Camarillo Music in a fuller capacity and we are both thoroughly excited to move into what we are sure will be another period of immense growth for the department.
