Dominic Rivera

OUHSD Mariachi Director

Dominic Rivera, along with his brother, Tony Rivera, runs the Oxnard Union High School District’s Mariachi program. Dominic began working in the school district in 2010, and works at every OUHSD school with the exception of Pacifica High School. The Rivera brothers travel each day from school to school teaching students to play and sing music well known throughout the Latino community.

Dominic plays and sings with Mariachi Camarillo, a local mariachi group. Trumpet, guitarron and vihuela are a few of the instruments he plays. He began playing violin at the age of 9, then began to pick up the other instruments. While attending Adolfo Camarillo High School, he was part of multiple music ensembles, playing trombone in Marching Band and string and electric bass in Jazz Band. He also was enrolled in a strings class. He said he enjoys his work and being a part of the Oxnard Union High School District.
