  Winter Percussion

Winter Percussion carries the beat into spring

Winter Drumline is a visual and musical ensemble that creates a production on a tarp floor and competes in the gymnasium. The Winter Drumline, like Winter Guard, is the continuation of training for percussionists after the fall Marching Band season ends. The season begins around December with competitions in the Southern California Percussion Alliance (SCPA) circuit and runs through mid-April.

About the Course
Course Description

The Winter Drumline comprises primarily percussionists from the Marching Band and Concert Ensembles, and often has additional non-percussionist join the group.  Ensemble members will be allowed to enroll in 7th Period Stage Band during second semester to receive additional Fine Arts credit and a grade for the time they have committed to the program.

Winter Drumline competes regionally in a highly regarded circuit, Southern California Percussion Alliance (SCPA).  Like Marching Band, there are rehearsals after school and the ensemble requires a huge financial and time commitment.  Due to a lot of interest in this activity from students outside of the fall percussion section and other musicians alike, the ensemble will be audition-based to ensure each member is placed on the appropriate equipment  Please review important dates and the performance schedule before committing to this program and taking the spot of someone who is able to properly commit to this group. Winter Drumline members are required to be enrolled in another part of the program (Concert Ensemble, Orchestra, or Jazz).
