Drum-a-Thon

March 1 - 19, 2021
Individual Events to be held Virtually

We are pleased to announce that Winter Percussion has been allowed to move forward with a Show Season! The group is currently working with specialized instructors via distance learning and small group or 'pod' practice sessions to produce a virtual performance modified to meet safety guidelines and protocols, yet demonstrating the high quality of musicianship and performance that the ACHS Music Department is known for.

These elective programs are funded solely by the efforts of our Music Boosters, who organize and fundraise, not only for the elective programs, but the entire ACHS Music Department, as well. More than 50% of the 2020-2021 $175,000 operating budget comes from their various fundraising efforts. The combined expenses for both Winter Percussion and Winter Guard this season are expected to run about $17,000.

Instead of the traditional in-person 8-hour fundraising 'Drum-a-Thon' and 'Spin-a-Thon', students in our Winter Programs will be offering family and friends the opportunity to attend a personal Google Meet Virtual Practice Session, hosted by the student, as an alternative to the in-person events. During the session, the student will bring you into what it is like to practice and prepare for a winter program show, give you an advanced screening of the show, and answer any questions you may have about their instrument.

Please contact a Winter Percussion student for more information and a personal invitation to their Virtual Practice Session.

Attendees are encouraged to show their support with a financial donation to help fund our virtual program, dedicated and experienced staff, and equipment needs and repairs. If you are unable to attend, please consider a donation in your stead. Your support is greatly appreciated! Instructions are below.
