ACHS's premier auditioned concert ensemble
The concert program is where instrumentalists hone their technique and tone. Instead of incorporating visual along with music like in Marching Band, students are able to improve their technical skills and develop mature tone production and ear training through several performances throughout the year. Concert Ensembles are required co-requisites for all Marching Band members. Enrollment in a concert ensemble does not require enrollment in Marching Band.
Wind Ensemble is the advanced concert ensemble at ACHS, and entrance into this ensemble is by audition only. The Wind Ensemble rehearses daily during Sixth Period in F-2. This ensemble plays advanced high school and collegiate literature. Students in Wind Ensemble are expected to study privately on their instrument. Auditions for the Wind Ensemble take place in the spring for the following year and once more in December for the second semester. The Wind Ensemble performs several concerts each year and at Southern California School Band & Orchestra Association Ratings Concert Festivals.
Concert Percussion Sectionals
Percussionists in the concert program will be pulled out to work with Mr. Bill Garcia three times each week on technique and chamber music in smaller groups. The location of these rehearsal will vary.
Parent information meeting
There is a Parent Meeting, at 6 p.m., May 22, in the ACHS Library for incoming freshmen, students new to the program and their parents. Please see Calendar for additional information. Parent and students are highly encouraged to attend.
