ACHS's Introductory Concert Ensemble
The concert program is where instrumentalists hone their technique and tone. Instead of incorporating visual along with music like in Marching Band, students are able to improve their technical skills and develop mature tone production and ear training through several performances throughout the year. Concert Ensembles are required co-requisites for all Marching Band members. Enrollment in a concert ensemble does not require enrollment in Marching Band.
Concert Band is the entry level ensemble in the concert program and meets daily during First Period in F-2. The goal is for students in Concert Band to receive the motivation and training necessary to move up to our Symphonic Band or Wind Ensemble, the premier concert ensemble. Concert Band has an open enrollment and primarily consists of underclassmen but is open to students in Grades 9-12 with novice to intermediate experience on their instruments. The ensemble performs a wide range of literature from traditional/classical to modern repertoire. Concert Band performs several concerts each year beginning in the winter and attends a Southern California School Band & Orchestra Association Ratings Concert Festival.
Concert Percussion Sectionals
Percussionists in the concert program will be pulled out to work with Mr. Bill Garcia three times each week on technique and chamber music in smaller groups. The location of these rehearsal will vary.
Arts credit earned through the passing of this course.
Students should have some background in music prior to enrollment but it is not a requirement.
